Windsor Police Policy of Teen Driving Violations:
We WILL tell your parents

The number one cause of deaths among teenagers is motor vehicle accidents.
The State of Connecticut is in the process of adopting a graduated drivers license policy that will restrict aspects of driving rights until driving experience is gained.

Going a step further, the Windsor Police have adopted a policy that provides the following:

  • If a teen is operating a Motor Vehicle that is stopped for a violation or involved in an accident or Suspicious Activity;
  • The Windsor Police Department will contact the Parents or guardian of that teen and advise them of the incident and

  • Will contact the parents of all other teens involved with the facts concerning the incident.

It is the hope that by adopting and aggressively following this policy, the parents will have a better knowledge of their children and friends safe driving habits. Additionally by adding the certainty of parental knowledge, we feel that our teens will be more cautious and therefore safer when driving.
